Deoxycholic Acid is a form of bile salt which helps to dissolve fat. Using multiple small injections into the fat layer below the surface of the skin, deoxycholic acid helps to breakdown fat and minimize fatty deposits. Product is injected using small needles either under the chin (Kybella) or in the desired body area (Lipodissolve) to breakdown fat globules. Immediately after the procedure there will be swelling and tenderness for up to 4-6 weeks when the next treatment can be performed. A minimum of 2 treatments will be required to visualize results for the chin and more than 2 treatments are recommended for spot treatments on the body.

Each Belkyra treatment session is relatively quick, typically lasting around 15 to 20 minutes. The number of sessions required will depend on your individual needs and will be determined during your consultation. Most patients require multiple sessions spaced a month apart for optimal results.

As with any medical procedure, there can be potential side effects. With Belkyra injections, these may include swelling, bruising, numbness, redness, and areas of hardness in the treatment area. These side effects are usually temporary and resolve on their own.

One of the major benefits of Belkyra is that it’s a non-surgical double chin removal treatment providing very minimal downtime. Most patients can return to their normal activities immediately after the procedure. However, you may wish to schedule your treatment towards the end of the week to allow any swelling or bruising to subside over the weekend.

Fat reduction sessions typically last 15 to 30 minutes for injection time.

During treatment, injections to dissolve fat will be injected directly into the fat under your chin using multiple subcutaneous injections.

Many patients experience visible results in 2 to 4 treatment sessions. The number of injections and the number of treatments is tailored specifically to the individual patient’s treatment goals.

The most common side effects include swelling, numbness, redness, and areas of hardness in the treatment area.
